Participation Programme

The Belgrade’s work with young people and local communities is an integral part of the theatre’s artistic programme. We deliver a wide range of ground-breaking participatory activities, building on our reputation as the birthplace of the Theatre in Education movement. We aim to provide a platform for the voices of the diverse communities of Coventry, through the use of theatre and other art forms.

Our broad programme includes:

  • Free weekly Youth Theatre workshops;
  • Free drama workshops for over 50’s
  • Acting Classes for all ages;
  • Holiday Camps;
  • A varied schools programme;
  • Development opportunities for writers and directors

22-30 Theatre Group 18/19
29 October 2018 – 21 July 2019
A peer led group to develop young people's skills in theatre techniques as well as transferable skills. This group meets on Fridays during term time.

Arts Gymnasium - 50+

Our fun weekly sessions for over 50s, promoting positive well-being through imagination and movement. If you are interested in our programme, register for a place here and a member of our team will contact you to discuss which part of the programme would be most suitable for you.

Asian Youth Theatre 18/19
31 October 2018 – 18 July 2019
Seeking to encourage participation from and give a voice to young people from Asian backgrounds. This group meets on Wednesdays during term time.
Age 11 to 16
Backstage Youth
29 October – 19 July 2018
This group is a chance for young people aged 12 - 24 to find out about backstage roles in the theatre industry such as lighting, sound and stage management. This group meets on a project-by-project basis.

Black Youth Theatre 18/19

Seeking to encourage participation from and give a voice to young people from African, African-Caribbean or dual heritage backgrounds. This group meets on Mondays during term time.

Canley Youth Theatre 18/19

Our Outreach Youth theatre provides activities within the local community at the Xcel Leisure Centre. This project is delivered in partnership with Warwick Arts Centre. This group meets on Tuesdays during term time.
